What's New with FOCUS??

We have a great summer ahead of us! Mission trip to Cincinnati, 4-H Fair, Popcorn Festival, Karaoke Tuesdays at the Varsity Grill, Softball games, Trips to the Splash House, Girls Nights, Guys Nights, Small Groups....phew...and more!

We want all to be part of the action!

Heath and I pray that this summer be a summer of fun and a summer of FOCUS. We pray that FOCUS grows as a ministry. We pray for growth in relationships with one another as a family as well as with God, the most important relationship. While summer is a time of thrill upon each sunset, bonfire, water fight, sprinkler run, sleepover, and adventure, it is also a time to focus on who we really are. We do not have school to district us...the excuse of homework or extra-curricular activities. The temptation of summer freedom is to do nothing, especially in our relationship to God. Summer is a great time to be recharged by the only One who can really recharge and replenish us.

I confess that Satan uses this time of freedom for me to focus on just hanging out with people and not with God. Don't get me wrong, hanging out with people is good. Actually God created us to be in a relationship with Him and with others. However, we cannot forget to be in a relationship with Him as well. How do we do that? We spend time with Him!

We spend time with Him in prayer...which is just talking to Him.
We spend time with Him in solitude...which is just listening to Him; being with Him.
We spend time with Him by reading His words to us...which is reading the Holy Bible.
We spend time with Him by serving others...which is sacrificing our will, rights, pleasures for the sake of others. (Working at a shelter, spending time with children in the community, doing a good deed for your family...)
We spend time with Him by focusing on Him....letting Him be in your thoughts, in your decisions, in your desires

Will this be a summer where you allow boredom take the best of you?
Will this be a summer where you succumb to ignoring what God can do in your life?

Or

Will this be a summer where you will allow the living God, the one who breathed the gift of life into you, be part of your life?
Will this be the summer you make a difference in your community, your family, your group of friends because you focused on God?
Will this be the summer you see what you were really created for?

Allow FOCUS student ministries help you in your pursuit of faith. We want to help you focus on your relationship with Jesus Christ.

May the summer begin!
